FAQ – Top 9 Typical Questions Before Ordering

1. What are the available screen sizes for the battery-driven display solution?

A: We offer a full range of screen sizes:

4.3” / 5” / 6.2” / 7” / 10.1” / 15.6” / 18.5”, suitable for a wide variety of retail and in-store environments.

2. What kinds of video trigger options are available?

A: Since our battery-driven retail video players are designed for locations where AC power is unavailable or inconvenient, a low-maintenance triggering system is essential to manage both playback and standby efficiently.

We offer two primary trigger types:

PIR /Microwave motion sensor (detects nearby movement)

LED-illuminated push button

Other custom trigger options are also available upon request.

3. How long does the battery-powered solution last in real-world conditions?

A: Playback duration depends on the screen size, battery pack, and video length.

As a reference:

For a 4.3” screen using 8 D-cell batteries with PIR triggering, you can expect up to 4,800 playbacks of a 20-second video.

Assuming 7 activations per hour, this provides around 90 days of operation.

For full details on power consumption across models, please refer to our White Paper Of Battery Powered Retail Screens.

4. Does the battery-powered player support AC power as well?

A: Yes. Each unit comes with a built-in switch that allows you to toggle between battery mode and AC adapter mode.

5. What is the file structure for loading content?

A:

•In battery mode, the unit uses a single trigger video file named 05.avi (Xvid encoded, max resolution: 720×576).

•In AC mode, the player can support both a looping video (mu.avi) and a triggered video (05.avi) for motion-sensor playback.

6. Can the unit use both AC and battery power simultaneously, using the battery as a UPS?

A: Yes, with an additional small circuit we offer, the unit can intelligently manage switching between AC and battery, using the battery pack as a backup power supply.

7. Is it possible to use a single power inlet for both AC and battery for easier maintenance?

A: Yes, it is. In this case, the system can be configured to run exclusively in battery mode, while sharing the same inlet for streamlined servicing.

8. What if we want a longer battery life without replacing the pack during the product’s lifecycle?

A: That’s possible. For example, if a single 8xD battery pack supports 3 months of triggered playback, connecting four such packs in parallel (i.e. 32 D batteries) will multiply the duration accordingly.

9. What is the operating voltage range of the unit?

A: The unit supports a wide voltage range of 7.5V to 18V, maximizing battery compatibility and efficiency throughout the discharge cycle.
